Etude Winery was founded in 1982 by Tony Soter who never formally trained as a winemaker, but built a highly-successful career that lasted for four decades. In 1975 he began working for Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars and later moved to other iconic Napa wineries including Shafer, Chappellet and Viader Winery.

Today Etude is in the capable hands of winemaker Jon Priest and is owned by Treasury Wine Estates. The winery specialises in crafting exceptional Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon wines which are heavily influenced by the proximity to the coast with cooling breezes coming off the Pacific.

Walk-in visitors can choose between two tasting flight options either in the spacious tasting room or on the outdoor patio on warmer days. Their classic flight includes four of their signature Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

Another option is to reserve in advance a private tasting experience which allows visitors to choose which wines they would like to taste or opt for “The Study of Pinot Noir” which explores four different examples of the variety in greater depth.
